I really loved the atmosphere of this game! I appreciate that the gameplay was also just walking around the atmosphere lol.
I like the idea of absolutely no "gamey" kind of information that would break the total immersion this has, but this causes some problems too. I initially missed the instructions in the house, but gamer sense told me to pick up the log on the ground after I went exploring. You probably don't want people walking around for 25 minutes trying to figure out what to do, so some positioning of the player to see the instructions could help. An idea might be to have the player start at some safe observational outpost with instructions in the room.
Also, I stopped at 3 firewood and returned before I found the instructions. For game rules that don't make too much sense (requiring an exact amount of logs) some UI might be best (e.g. a "1/4" text). But then again if you force the player to read the instructions beforehand you wouldn't have to.
Unfortunately, I found myself unable to move forward with the game, just because there were no clear objectives.
I am pretty sure, the game is interesting. It does have a unique story, reading from the notes on the trees, but, it needs fixing. An update could help to improve the indication of what to do and also, maybe add a screen, where the player can see the text instead of looking at the tree - it seemed super hard to read.
Nevertheless, good luck with this project. Good one indeed. Best to you!
The game in itself was very good but the one thing I do complain about is having no signifiers that tell you when you have collected/fixed enough or how many you need to collect/fix to move on towards the next objective.
It is a good game but should have those basic fixes and I have uploaded/am uploading a video to my YT channel when I am not going to be awake (7:30 AM EST) so you can check it out later on ;P
